About SmallCapInvestor.comSmallCapInvestor.com was conceived in mid-2005 by Business Financial Publishing founder and President Ian Wyatt. Since 2001, Business Financial Publishing has focused on researching and analyzing small and micro capitalization equities for individual investors. Business Financial Publishing was certainly not alone analyzing small cap equities, but a growing reputation as a highly credible and independent source of insightful information was propelling its growth. By 2005, it became clear to Ian that there was no single Internet media or publishing company with clear leadership in the small and micro cap investing arena. Small and micro cap stocks have always attracted much attention from hype-driven Web sites that are compensated for coverage of often illegitimate companies with poor operating results and pie-in-the-sky promises. While there are a handful of independent publishers following these small companies, most have only a single publication dedicated to the sector, and lack breadth. And while the major financial news and Web sites will occasionally cover smaller capitalization equities, their focus has always been on following companies that are the most popular with investors, which tends to be large and mid-cap companies. Enter SmallCapInvestor.com. The mission: to become the premier Web site for individual investors seeking independent information on small and micro capitalization stocks. Ian conceived a Web site that would look at the market each day not through the measurement of the Dow Jones Industrial Average but through the eyes of the Russell 2000 Index, the premier barometer of small cap performance. A website that would offer insightful looks at individual small and micro cap companies, often written in a fun and breezy style. A website that would provide analysis from small cap investment newsletter editors and regular columns from professional money managers whose focus is small and micro cap stocks. A website that would tap into the expertise of Business Financial Publishing’s Growth Report and Rising Star Stocks newsletters by publishing some of the best research and analyses found in those publications. Unlike other financial media that follow companies both large and small, SmallCapInvestor.com would focus exclusively on companies with market capitalizations between $100 million and $750 million. SmallCapInvestor.com was launched with the goal of becoming the destination Web site for individual investors who are seeking reliable and wide-ranging information on the small cap market in general, as well as insight into specific industry sectors and individual companies. While the site does provide access to research and general financial information, it is the primary intention of SmallCapInvestor.com to help investors identify companies for consideration in their portfolios, or to help define those that should be avoided. With thousands of small and micro cap publicly traded companies in the United States alone, what investors need above all else are ideas about companies they might otherwise overlook. SmallCapInvestor.com will fill that need by providing up-to-the-minute reporting throughout the trading day to help small cap investors make better decisions regarding companies they might buy or sell in their portfolio. While SmallCapInvestor.com is not a research service that runs model portfolios, we believe that providing individual investors with easy access to exclusive information is a very important service that will greatly benefit our users. The vision for SmallCapInvestor.com culminated in April 2007, when the Web site launched after nearly two years of planning and six months of development. The staff of Business Financial Publishing is extremely pleased with this product, but will be working to make continued improvements in the months ahead based on feedback from users. Please stay tuned, and let us know what additions would make this site more helpful and provide you with the information you require.
