Ray Cheung

Ray has more than 10 years of extensive first-hand experience monitoring and analyzing social, political, economic and business developments in China.

As a China reporter for the South China Morning Post, Hong Kong's leading English newspaper, Ray covered China's phenomenal rise as a global political and economic power and its incredible social changes. He has traveled to every province in the country and is one of the few foreign journalists to have personally interviewed and accompany Chinese President Hu Jintao and Premier Wen Jiabao in their foreign state visits. Ray also has extensive background in environment and development issues in China.

As a contributing correspondent for the Economist Intelligence Unit's Business China report, Ray uses his unique insight to probe the opportunities and challenges in the Chinese business landscape for foreign investors. He has a specific expertise in the alternative energy sector, corporate governance, socially responsible investing and the cross-Straits economic relationship.

A native of Los Angeles, Ray is a graduate of the University of California, Berkeley and is currently earning his Executive MBA at Georgetown University.
