Richard L. Brandt is a journalist with over 20 years' experience covering science, technology and business. He spent five years as editor-in-chief and technology columnist for the technology/business magazine Upside, and 14 years as a correspondent for Business Week Magazine. He is currently writing books, and was co-author, with investment banker Thomas W. Weisel, of Capital Instincts: Life as an Entrepreneur, Financier and Athlete (John Wiley & Sons, 2003). He has also written for L'Express, Science magazine, Technology Review magazine, and Working Woman. He has won several awards, including a National Magazine Award in 1989, and a Knight Fellowship at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 1991.
