Pre-market: Ascent Solar gets government contract

Ascent Solar Technologies, Inc. (Nasdaq: ASTI) has been selected by the U.S. Air Force to develop a flexible thin film tandem solar cell with the goal of demonstrating thin film photovoltaic efficiencies of 20%, the Littleton, Colo-based company reported this morning.  Nevertheless, shares are down $0.08, or 1%, to $8.77.

Kapolei, Hawaii-based Hoku Scientific, Inc. (Nasdaq: HOKU) lost money in fiscal 2007.  The net loss for the fiscal year ended March 30 was $2.4 million, or $0.14 per share, compared with a net income of $1.3 million, or $0.09 per share, the energy technology company said after Tuesday’s close.  Two analysts polled by Thomson Financial were expecting a net loss of $0.07 per share.  The stock is down $0.10, or 2%, to $5.04.
