MedAssets falls on wider Q4 loss

Shares of MedAssets Inc. (Nasdaq:MDAS) are falling on news before the start of trading that the provider of proprietary technology that allows hospitals to assess profitability widened its fourth-quarter loss. The Alpharetta, Ga.-based company reported that its loss for the three months ended Dec. 31, 2007, was $3.8 million, or $0.20 per share, compared with a net loss of $1.7 million, or $0.16 per share, a year earlier.
