OraSure Technologies slides 17% after giving weak 2008 outlook

OraSure Technologies, Inc. (Nasdaq:OSUR) is diving 17% after the diagnostic kits maker said late Tuesday that it expects a second-quarter loss ranging from $0.06 to $0.07 per share on revenue of between $18.5 million and $19 million. The Bethlehem, Pa.-based company also said it anticipates a 2008 loss of $0.10 to $0.11 per share on revenue of $83 million.

The firm’s guidance significantly missed Wall Street’s expectations. Analysts expect a second-quarter loss of $0.01 per share and a 2008 profit of $0.05 a share.
