Here are Thursday’s biggest percentage gainers and losers, along with top volume leaders, among companies with a market cap between $50 million and $750 million:

Biggest percentage gainers:

Kosan Biosciences Inc. (Nasdaq:KOSN), up 229.1% to $5.43 after announcing Bristol-Myers Squibb is buying the cancer therapeutics firm for $5.50 per share in cash.
Ultralife Batteries, Inc. (Nasdaq:ULBI), up 31.4% to $12.71 after reporting second-quarter guidance above Wall Street’s expectations.
Resource America, Inc. (Nasdaq:REXI), up 19.9% to $10.84 despite no announcements.

Biggest percentage losers:

Community Bankers Acquisition Corp. (AMEX:BTC), down 16.4% to $6.12 despite an announcement that certain new investors bought about 4.1 million shares of common stock.
Jinpan International Ltd. (AMEX:JST), down 15.7% to $37.84 despite posting a higher first-quarter profit after Wednesday’s closing bell. The China-based maker of power equipment also reaffirmed its 2009 guidance.
Community Partners Bancorp (Nasdaq:CPBC), down 14.4% to $7.40 despite no significant announcements.
