The SmallCapInvestor.com Top 25 Composite is a computer-generated ranking of the leading stocks in the small-cap universe. Rankings are based on a stock's fundamentals, projected growth rates, institutional sponsorship and technical trend lines. This composite is comprised of stocks that are showing an increasing relative strength to the Russell 2000. As a result, this index should outperform the Russell over long periods of time. A company's inclusion in the ranking should not be viewed as a recommendation.

The SmallCapInvestor.com Top 25 Composite gained about 3.25% over the past week. Despite the gains last week, the composite lost ground to the Russell 2000 because of our lack of exposure to commodity and financial sector stocks. Advancers led decliners 21 to 4 in the Top 25 last week, suggesting a bullish trend in the markets. We did manage to capture a few nice gainers despite the volatility in the stock market. Leading the list last week was SXC Health Solutions (Nasdaq:SXCI), IAMGold (NYSE:IAG) and ICU Medical Inc (Nasdaq:ICUI), up 10%, 8.9% and 8.5%, respectively, for the week.

This week we maintain our overweight on biotechs, but we have added a few financial-related stocks. We cannot ignore the possibility of a short cover rally. Additionally, we have three gold miners in this week's SmallCapInvestor.com composite. We predict the markets will continue to move higher this week.
