Shares of United Community Financial Corp. (Nasdaq:UCFC) are getting cheaper on news after the close on Wednesday of a wider net loss for the fourth quarter ended Dec. 31, 2007. The Youngstown, Ohio-based company reported a consolidated net loss of $7.1 million, or $0.25 per share, compared with a loss of $3.8 million, or $0.13 per share, a year earlier.

At 11:30 a.m. ET, the stock was down $0.60, or 9%, to $6.27.
