Immunomedics spikes 20% in pre-market on licensing agreement

Shares of Immunomedics, Inc. (Nasdaq:IMMU) jumped 20% in pre-market trading after the biopharmaceutical company said it secured a license and collaboration agreement with Nycomed GmbH. Specifically, Immunomedics has granted Nycomed a license to develop and commercialize veltuzumab, Immunomedics' humanized antibody used for the treatment of all non-cancer indications.

Immunomedics will receive a non refundable initial cash payment of $40 million and could receive potential cash milestone payments of up to $580 million upon completion of certain clinical, regulatory, and sales-based milestones.

Immunomedics up on patent award

Immunomedics, Inc. (Nasdaq: IMMU) shares are jumping after the biopharmaceutical company announced before the opening that it was awarded a patent the MUC1-antigen binding humanized antibody and its use in the diagnosis and therapy of pancreatic cancers.

"We are delighted to receive this patent award. HPAM4 is an important product candidate in our clinical pipeline,” CEO Cynthia Sullivan said in a statement. “In light of the potentially-favorable risk-reward profile of this antibody for the therapy of pancreatic cancer, and assuming clinical trials will support marketing approval, we will consider developing this product through commercialization on our own.”

In pre-market trading, IMMU shares are up 8.98%, or $0.23, at $2.79. Over the last 52 weeks, shares have ranged from $1.92 to $6.12.

Immunomedics, Inc. reports positive results from epratuzumab study

Shares of Immunomedics, Inc. (Nasdaq: IMMU) are edging higher in pre-market trading this morning after the biopharmaceutical company reported results from a study showing that its drug epratuzumab slows down the activation of B-cells from patients suffering from systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE), but not normal subjects.

SLE is a chronic autoimmune disease that is potentially debilitating and sometimes fatal as the immune system attacks the body’s cells and tissue, resulting in inflammation and tissue damage. SLE can affect any part of the body, but most often harms the heart, joints, skin, lungs, blood vessels, liver, kidneys and nervous system.

Shares of Immunomedics rose $0.12, or 5.04%, to $2.50 in pre-market trading.

Accredited Home Lenders Holding Co. leads Monday pre-market volume

San Diego-based Accredited Home Lenders Holding Co. (Nasdaq: LEND) announced it will be acquired by Lone Star Funds for $15.10 per share, or about $400 million, in cash. The mortgage banking company said the deal is expected to be closed in the third quarter ending Sept. 30.

Telik, Inc. (Nasdaq: TELK) announced results from the third phase in a study of the biopharmaceutical company’s lung cancer drug Telcyta Assist-2. The Palo Alto, Calif.-based business said the trial missed the primary endpoint.

Biopharmaceutical company Immunomedics, Inc. (Nasdaq: IMMU) announced that treatment with the Morris Plains, N.J.-based business’ cancer drug Epratuzumab along with chemotherapy is well tolerated and feasible in children with a type of leukemia.

Cambridge, Mass.-based Ariad Pharmaceuticals, Inc. (Nasdaq: ARIA) reported patient enrollment for the third trial phase of the company’s AP23573 cancer drug will be delayed to the third quarter ending Sept. 30.
