KVH Industries drops 10% on lowered Q3 guidanceKVH Industries Inc. (Nasdaq:KVHI) fell by more than 10% this morning after the company lowered its revenue and earnings expectations for the third quarter. After the bell on Thursday, the Middletown, R.I.-based company said it now expects to report revenue in the range of $15.6 million to $16 million and bottom-line results well below its original expectations of $0.01 to $0.05. KVH Industries had said previously that it expected revenue of $19 million to $20.5 million for the third quarter. KVH Industries manufactures systems to provide access to live mobile media. It also provides navigation, pointing, and guidance solutions for maritime, defense and commercial applications. By late morning KVH Industries is at $7.47, down $0.93 from Thursday’s close. KVH Q2 earnings miss Wall Street estimates, revenues down 4%
Mobile communication products manufacturer KVH Industries Inc. (Nasdaq:KVHI) said ahead of the opening higher net income for the second quarter but lower revenues. For the quarter ended June 30, net income was a record high of $2 million, or $0.14 per share, compared with $1.5 million, or $0.10 a share, for the same quarter a year ago. Revenues were $22.3 million, a 4% drop from the same period a year earlier. Wall Street was expecting earnings per share of $0.11 on revenues of $23.5 million.

The company said next quarter’s revenues should be lifted now that its airtime business has started to contribute to revenues and that it is expanding some of its services. In today’s pre-market trading, shares of the Middletown, R.I.-based KVH are mostly flat, down about $0.12 at $8.79.

KVH Industries Inc. (Nasdaq: KVHI), which makes communications products for the land and marine markets, has received a $1.1 million order from the U.S. military. The equipment will be used for real-time image synchronization and stabilization in military training simulator systems, the Middletown, R.I.-based company said before the start of trading. Shares are up $0.16, or 2%, to $9.05.
